Do you feel like making some small changes to your home?
Here's a solution that's right for you: hexagonal tiles.
They are a decorative, resistant, and long-lasting solution. Depending on the material, thickness, and other technical characteristics, they are suitable for multiple uses. Typical of the early twentieth century, hexagonal (or honeycomb-shaped) tiles have that touch of vintage that perfectly adapts to modern environments and linear, minimalistic decor.
But the question is, where do you want to place your tiles?
As you may have noticed, geometric shapes are very trendy, and among these, the hexagonal shape is one of the most used and appreciated. It's true that tiles look good everywhere, but each environment has its own.
Some tips on how to best use hexagonal tiles in different rooms of the house.
First idea
You can use them as a divider, for example, you could try to divide the environment (such as between the bathroom and the bedroom) with colorful hexagonal tiles!
Second idea
Why not use the tiles as a headboard for your bed? You can create your own beautiful and innovative 'frame' for your bedroom and give it that vintage and modern touch at the same time. Keeping the same concept in mind, they can also be used to define the sanitary area inside the bathroom.
Third idea
It's also a nice idea to use neutral tiles and intersperse them here and there with some decorated ones, so that the choice appears random.
Curiosities about tiles
Hexagonal tiles hark back to the past. They began to spread already from the end of the nineteenth century, as a covering material. Their peak distribution occurred in the thirties, with the distribution of materials based on cement and terracotta mixes.
The artifacts of the thirties were handmade. Each tile was mixed using cement as a base ingredient along with the waste from the processing of marble or stones. The coloration was obtained with oxides, while the surface, after laying, was polished.
And for Floors and Wall Coverings?
In the range of proposals for floors and walls, new and creative coverings dedicated to the six-sided polygon are emerging. To describe this novelty, I chose the term creative, as the new tiles indeed give an aesthetic movement to the walls and floors on which they are laid. Moreover, the decorative effect of some collections intensifies the possible vintage style of the house.
Remember!
In humid environments like bathrooms and kitchens, or even in outdoor spaces, you need to choose a non-slip floor for your safety, to avoid slipping when it's wet. The non-slip feature is certified with the classification provided by DIN 51130 standard for shod foot traffic and by DIN 51097 standard for areas with water presence where barefoot access is expected, like gyms and pools.
