The past that returns, in other guises, to give us new emotions. Mine started from this awareness project for the Alcova, presented last February at the Petra-Modenantiquaria 2019 fair.
Once again I thought of a bedroom, a favorite place for dreams and passion.
The intimacy is contained in an amphora, to give the lucky guests the incredible sensation of breathing the past protected by terracotta. The large jar has been adapted inside to accommodate a double bed and two side shelves, which contain a small reserve of wines and an old radio, essential elements to create the right atmosphere for a union of souls.
A warm wooden floor, a curtain at the entrance to protect from prying eyes, soft light. Everything is ready for a lucky couple to live a dream of love cradled by antiquity.
Originally the amphora had a noble task, that of containing and preserving cereals, a treasure for the farmers of our lands. Today the Alcova keeps two lucky guests safe, hidden from the world by a mirrored glass porthole from which they enter, destined to spend a magical night.
The recovery of antiquities is an ethical and cultural mission for us at Ra-Ma: we give life back to forgotten, abandoned objects, considered out of fashion, which under the signs of time retain their authentic beauty intact.
Wise hands, knowledgeable of matter and of the needs of man of the past, built our great Amphora. We, humble admirers of the ancient, want to give everyone the opportunity to appreciate noble materials such as terracotta, rough stone, travertine, marble, bronze and brass.
With Ra-Ma the past becomes present and is projected towards the future.
