The water games
Water, source of life. For centuries it has been celebrated in triumphal architecture, gushing splashes, crystalline pools. Water games that from the gardens of Versailles to the monumental Roman buildings, from the immense pools of the Royal Palace of Caserta to the ingenious hydraulic devices of the Habsburg villas have reached us, leaving us amazed and fascinated. They are the Fountains. Symbol of beauty and opulence in antiquity, an indispensable element of decoration in the most beautiful cities of the modern world.
Man recognizes water as the supreme source of life and celebrates it with important constructions made of precious materials. Carrara marble, river stone, travertine, rough stone and many other materials make these works of art from the past rich and valuable.
Mythological Greek gods, smiling cherubs, mermaids, tritons, buxom maids and countless references to natural elements, such as carp, turtles, snakes, sea monsters enrich the fountains by creating sinuous lines, suggestive views, plays of light and shadows as well as water.
In the house that hosts it, a fountain brings its natural charm, becoming the undisputed protagonist of green gardens and a unique decorative element for minimal interior spaces, both rustic and classic.
The recovery of antiquities is an ethical and cultural mission for us at Ra-Ma: we give life back to forgotten, abandoned objects, considered out of fashion, which, under the signs of time, retain their authentic beauty intact.
In our exhibition you can find fountains of all sizes and shapes, from the roughest to the most refined styles, washbasins from all eras, tubs, washtubs, animal troughs, stone channels.
The wisdom of Italian artisans has been able to create unique pieces in the history of art, and equally expert hands bring ancient objects back to life for us, the lucky inhabitants of this present, to enjoy.
